July 2026 was extraordinary, highlighted by our 250th celebration, attending the Memoria Press Annual Conference featuring keynote speaker Malcolm Guite, and speaking at a civic education conference at Benedictine College. Throughout these events, we explored how civic education—rooted in the power of words—restores faith and fosters great leadership.

July Highlights

• 250th Celebration: A wonderful start to an unforgettable month of community and reflection.
• Memoria Press Conference: Hosted in Louisville, featuring keynote speaker Malcolm Guite discussing his epic poem Galahad and the Grail.
• Benedictine College: An inspiring conference on civic education featuring a tour of their new library, built to immerse students in intellectual traditions and America's founding principles.

The Power of Words

• The Core Question: We asked what civic education truly means and concluded it is anything that restores faith, instills virtue, and fosters wise leadership.
• The Foundation: True leadership and civic renewal start with the core element: words. Without a foundation of fine, apt words, there is no eloquence, no great oratory, no civil and intelligent debate.
• Address: I presented on Finding Our Words: Words That Made America, focusing on General Douglas MacArthur's 1962 "Duty, Honor, Country" address at West Point, in which he beautifully expressed the power of "those three hallowed words."
